The finish is the biggest visual choice in paver sealing. Here's how to decide.
Wet Look
Deep, rich color and a just-rained shine. Great for front entries and driveways. Glossy finishes can feel slicker when wet, so we offer a slip resistant add-on.

Natural
Clean pavers with no added shine or color change. Popular for pool decks and modern homes.
In Between
An enhanced or semi-gloss finish brings out color with a softer sheen.
See side-by-side details on our sand colors and sealer finishes page.
The finish also depends on the sealer type; see water-based vs. solvent-based paver sealer and bringing color back to faded pavers.
Matte, Satin, and Gloss: Sheen Levels Explained
| Sheen | Look | Good Fit |
|---|---|---|
| Matte (natural) | No shine; color close to unsealed | Modern homes, pool decks, travertine |
| Satin or semi-gloss | Soft sheen with richer color | Patios and lanais that want enhancement without high shine |
| Gloss or high gloss | Deep, wet look with strong shine | Driveways and entries where color is the priority |
With Hurricane CAT 5, we set the sheen by how we dilute each coat, from semi-gloss to high gloss, and its extra urethane gives excellent color enhancement. For a true matte look we use Trident Cyclone. Around pools, any sheen can get a slip-resistant additive.

Wet Look vs. Natural Paver Sealer: How to Choose FAQs
Which finish is most popular?
Wet look is popular on driveways and entries; natural finishes are popular on pool decks and modern homes.
Can I switch finishes later?
Going from wet look to natural usually requires stripping first, so choose carefully.
Does a natural sealer still protect?
Yes. Natural sealers protect against stains and water and, for pavers, can still stabilize joint sand.
What is the difference between matte, satin, and gloss paver sealer?
Matte keeps a natural look with no shine, satin adds a soft sheen and richer color, and gloss gives the deepest wet look.
